Spruill-King House circa 1850, Warren County, NC

The Spruill-King House, located at 448 S Main Street, Warrenton NC was built around 1850. The house represents Greek and Italianate architecture. On the first level there is the unusual full length rectangular windows. It consists of 12 rooms, including 2 1/2 bathrooms and a metal roof.

The Giant Legs of Henderson, NC

Crass, rude, vulgar, horrible, indecent, shocking, nasty! Only a few of the adjectives that has described the legs in Henderson, NC. I got to see them today after hearing about them about a year ago. The legs are spread in the missionary position on one side of the street and her shoes are on the other side. A form of art, these legs were constructed around 2001 out of concrete, weighing 40 tons and 17 feet tall by Ricky Pearce. Said to be inspired by a picture of Marilyn Monroe, Mr. Pearce, a backhoe contractor, said he felt that the legs were an improvement to the neighborhood, although those sentiments may not be shared by all of his neighbors. Above the shoes he fashioned a metal arch with the words "High NC Heels". Another arch is erected with the words "Reminiscing" in front of the legs. He didn't understand what the fuss was about. There is nothing that the county could do about it because it did not violate any zoning
